Today Pastificio Rana is a world leader in the production and sale of fresh pasta, present in 66 countries around the world. Gian Luca Rana has transformed the Pastificio Rana from a small artisan company to an international reality, which in 2021 reached 984 million euros in turnover.
Gian Luca Rana was born in Verona on December 20, 1965 and his experience in the Pastificio Rana began in 1986, at the age of 21, where after having trained in the purchasing section, he first began in the Production department, where he was able to observe the processing of the product, and then in the Industrial Development division.
Thanks to his extensive experience in Pastificio Rana, Gian Luca has a complete view of the production and sales process. This allows him to innovate many aspects of the Pastificio Rana and to open the Research & Development Center, a place where the goal is to experiment with the creation of new products and recipes to be offered on the market.
His great experience in different departments has allowed him to develop a great sensitivity towards the market and to put innovation at the heart of Pastificio Rana. This innovation accompanied Gian Luca Rana in all his choices.
In the early 90s, Gian Luca Rana decided to expand the geographical distribution of Rana products and create an internalization process that led Pastificio Rana to become the market leader in Italy and later in the USA.
Gian Luca Rana has also worked hard to create a perfect marriage between refrigerated pasta and the world of restaurants. From this union the Rana restaurants were born, present in various italian cities and in Berlin. All restaurants have large laboratories where the collaborators of Pastificio Rana can experiment with new combinations of flavors and recipes with Rana products.
In 2019 Gian Luca Rana launched the "Festival del Futuro" initiative, an event that aims to analyze, share and reward trends and innovations in various fields in the global economy.
Over the years, he has received several awards thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit. Highlights include the International Awareness Award, sponsored by Fordham University in New York, for his achievements in the United States.
Gian Luca loves innovation but remains faithful to his land and origins. Over the years, he has held various positions in numerous institutions in the Verona area, including being a member of the Board of Directors of Banco Popolare di Verona and President of the local section of Confindustria. He is also the President of the Athesis publishing group.
